Art Book(Zine)の制作と展示

2024/01/12〜21迄、工房親CHIKAにて開催の《ARTIST’S BOOK WEEK》に参加.


2023年大晦日12月31日に公演したパフォーマンス作品《シナリオ・ダイアローグ》=人生は自作自演=バーのママ編に向けて制作した映像作品(45分)をコマ撮り風に仕上げた《フォトブック》を制作し展示(本公演内容については本投稿のボトムを参照)

★《シナリオ・ダイアローグ》=人生は自作自演=バーのママ編

(公演日:2023/12/31@板橋サブテレニアン)について...


本作品は、東京板橋に居する老舗バーを想定し先代からバーを引き継ぐ二代目ママこと“私”が自分の出自が中国の『一人っ子政策』に起因することを知ったことから始まるモノローグ的なストーリーを基軸としています。自分の身内のこと、コロナ禍に亡くなった常連客の話、渋谷区のパートナーシップ制度に申請するため実家の両親に約40年ぶりに会いに帰省したママ(私)の友人であるトランスジェンダー女性の話などを織り込みながら、世界初の人工雪を降らせた物理学者 中谷宇吉郎(1900-1962)氏の随筆『立春の卵』(1947)のトピックや、中谷氏の次女でありアーティストの中谷芙二子氏(1933-)の映像作品『卵を立てる』(1974)にフォーカスしオマージュした作品でもあります。


お客様(鑑賞者)とのパフォーマティブなスモールトークと架空のバーの一室をイメージした映像作品(※)を背景に、“観るモノと観られるモノ”との間に生じる『第四の壁』を交差させながら本作のリアルな公演日(2023/12/31/大晦日)の時系列にシンクロさせたセミ・ドキュメンタリー且つメタ・フィクションな作品に仕上げています。


本作に散りばめられた幾つかの物語のピース、例えば、血縁と非血縁、女性と男性、当事者と非当事者、生と死、リアルとヴァーチャル、フィクションとノンフィクションといった垣根を行き交いながら、『鶏が先か、卵が先か』といった因果性のジレンマにつきまとう「AかBか」の二項対立に生じる思考停止の危うさや脆弱性を本作品のアウトラインとしています。


二項対立での思考や対話は一見、思考がたやすく何かそこに大きな意義や意味があるように思えますが、其の実は(何かのトリックにかかったように)思考回路がフリーズし物事の本質や真理への追求にはほど遠い雑多な雑談で終わってしまうことも多いのではないでしょうか。



本作は、そんな二項対立が生む問い立てへの違和感やジレンマを浮き彫りにさせながら、自らの取捨選択によってその先(垣根の向こう側)へと向かうことの難しさと肝要さを示唆すべくスタートさせた作品です。(text by naok fujimoto)



This zine is the photo-book of my film work made for naok fujimoto's performance piece 《Scenario Dialogue》 =Life is a self-performed art= "A woman called "MAMA" at Salon bar in Tokyo" Edition, which was performed on 31 December 2023.


This work with  film and performance, is based on a woman whose monologue-like story begins when "I", who is called "MAMA" and works at a long-established salon bar in Tokyo, finds out that her origins are due to "One-Child policy"(1979〜2014) in China.


The story is interwoven with stories of her own relatives, a regular customer who died from the Corona virus, and a transgender woman friend of "MAMA" who has gone home to her parents for the first time in 40 years to apply for the Shibuya Ward Partnership Scheme, as well as an essay by Nakaya Ukichiro (1900-1962), the physicist who succeeded in creating the world's first artificial snowfall, entitled "Risshu". It also pays homage to Nakaya's second daughter, the artist Fujiko Nakaya (1933-), focusing on the relationship of Ukichirou's essay "Risshun no Tamago" (1947) and Fujiko's Video work “Standing Egg” (1974).


Through this work, naok fujimoto attempts to reflect on the relationship between father and daughter,  the narrative history of the family.


This is a semi-documentary and meta-fictional work, synchronised with the realdate of the performance (31st.Dec.2023, New Year's Eve), intersecting the 'fourth wall' between the 'thing seen and the thing seen' against a background of performative small talk with the audience and a film work imagining a fictional bar


Some of the narrative pieces scattered throughout the film, such as the dilemma of causality - 'chicken first or egg first' - are intertwined between population growth and decline, kinship and non-kinship, women and men, partisanship and non-partisanship, life and death, the real and the virtual, fiction and non-fiction. The dilemma of the "A or B" dichotomy, which is linked to the dilemma of causality, and its fragility are highlighted in the structure of this work. 


Creating questions and thinking in terms of dichotomies is at first glance easy to think about and seems to have meaning and significance, but in fact (as if by some kind of trick) it can cause thinking and dialogue to freeze and lead to events that are far from seeking the essence and truth of things and end up as chit-chat and banter. There are many events in everyday life that end up as chit-chat, far from pursuing the essence or truth of things. 


This work highlights such tricky thoughts and dialogues, while suggesting the difficulty and vital importance of trying to go beyond them by making one's own choices.  


It was initiated to highlight the discomfort and dilemma of such dichotomies, and to suggest the difficulty and importance of moving beyond them (crossing the border) by making one's own choices.
