”naok fujimoto”は、

”New Act of Knowledge” (新たな知の営み)として､

《哲愕カフェby NAoK》名義で、対話のアクティビティを展開しています。

主に、”観る✖️聞く✖️話す”といった３つのアクティビティーを組み込んだ、対話型イベント（哲学対話 / 哲学カフェ）の企画・運営を行っています。

アートやサイエンス・コミュニケーションといった"naok fujimoto"の専門性を活かし、市民参加型の対話型イベントを、博物館や美術館、大学などの教育機関をはじめ、ギャラリーやカフェなどさまざまな場で実践しています。

《哲愕カフェby NAoK》では、哲学対話（哲学カフェ）を参加者とともに構築するインタラクティブな”対話のインスタレーション”と捉えています。それは、『対話』という行為を通して立ち現れる一種のパフォーマンスアートであるとも言えるかもしれません。

Under the name “Philosophy Café by NAoK,” naok fujimoto explores “New Act of Knowledge” through dialogical activities.

These activities primarily take the form of interactive events that combine seeing, listening, and speaking—such as philosophy dialogues and “philosophy cafés.”

Drawing on naok fujimoto’s expertise in art and science communication, these events are designed as participatory platforms for the public. They have been held in a wide range of settings, including museums, art institutions, universities, galleries, and cafés.

"Philosophy Café by NAoK" considers philosophical dialogue to be an interactive installation created collaboratively with participants. In this sense, it may also be viewed as a form of performance art—one that emerges through the act of dialogue itself.

一般的な哲学カフェ/哲学対話のスタイル（他者の話を「聞き」、自ら「話す」）に、「観る」という鑑賞の視点を加えた独自の対話プログラムです。”観る✖️聞く✖️話す"をモットーに、アートやサイエンス・コミュニケーションに特化した対話型アクティビティーを展開しています。

古来より日本では、「やまと歌は､人の心を種として､よろづの言の葉とぞなれりける」（『古今集仮名序』）と謳われてきたように、詠歌の”発語”は"言霊”として尊ばれ、言葉には不思議な"力"が宿ると考えられてきました。

《哲愕カフェ by NAoK》は、こうした”やまと歌”に象徴される個としての『言葉の力』と、西洋発祥の"哲学カフェ"にみられる思考を通じた『言葉の生成』とを重ね合わせた、ハイブリッドな ”発語” の営みを大切にしています。

こうした”発語”から生まれる『対話』が、日常のリアルな会話の場面や、ふとした出会いや出来事を通して想起され、醸造されることで、新たな思考や創造へとつながっていくことを願っています。

テクノロジーの発展に伴い、オフラインに限らない多様なコミュニケーションが交差する現代社会だからこそ、身体感覚をともなう対話ー”肌感のあるコミュニケーション”ーの場を生み出すことを目指しています。

▶︎《哲愕カフェ by NAoK》の名称の由来とは？

すでにお気づきの方もいらしゃるかもしれませんが、

当プロジェクトの名称である『哲愕』は、

あえて一般的な「哲学」ではなく、「哲愕」という表記を用いています。

「愕(がく)」には「驚愕」に見られるような”驚き”や”発見”の意味があり、また、「顎(あご)」や「顎(おとがい)」といった漢字の部首が示すように、「あご＝口元」から発される”言葉”にもつながる語源的な広がりがあります。

《哲愕カフェ by NAoK》は、哲学対話におる「対話の発語」には、常に新鮮な驚きや気づきがあり、それらの言葉は”言霊”として力を宿し得るものだと信じています。このような想いと願いを込めて、《哲愕カフェ by NAoK （New Act of Knowledge）》は誕生しました。

▶︎主宰・ファシリテーター：藤本ナオ子（ naok fujimoto ）について

現代アートの制作・研究活動に加え、東京工業大学（現：東京科学大学）、お茶の水女子大学、大阪大学、東京大学において、産学連携によるサイエンス・コミュニケーションの推進プロジェクトや研究広報、大学のアウトリーチ活動など、多岐にわたる社会貢献・人材育成事業に携わってきました。そうした経験を活かし、本プロジェクトの運営に取り組んでおります。

また、図画工作・美術教育の実践や、特別支援学校での教育指導、行政主催の児童絵画コンクールにおける審査員経験などを通じて培った知見をもとに、対話の場における美術鑑賞やその鑑賞づくりにも寄与できればと考えております。今後ともご指導、ご鞭撻の程、何卒よろしくお願い申し上げます。

▶︎ What is “Tetsugaku Café by NAoK”?

“Tetsugaku Café by NAoK” is a unique dialogue program that builds upon the standard format of philosophical dialogue—listening to others and speaking—by adding the dimension of viewing and observing. With the motto “See ✖️ Listen ✖️ Speak”, this initiative offers participatory dialogue-based activities focused on art and science communication.

▶︎ The Philosophy Behind “Tetsu-Gaku Café by NAoK”
In Japan, it has long been believed that words carry a mysterious spiritual power—referred to as Koto-Dama. As described in the Kana Preface to the Kokin Wakashū, “Yamato poetry grows from the seeds of the human heart and becomes myriad leaves of words.” In this cultural context, the act of utterance—particularly in poetry—has been deeply revered.

《Tetsu-Gaku Café by NAoK》values the power of words both as personal expression, rooted in this Japanese tradition, and as the product of reflective dialogue, inspired by the Western-originated “philosophy café” movement. This project is grounded in a hybrid form of hatsu-go—the generative act of speech—through which dialogue emerges. We hope that such dialogue will be recalled and fermented through everyday conversations, encounters, and moments of realization, leading to new modes of thinking and creativity.

In today's world, where diverse modes of communication intersect both online and offline due to the rapid development of technology, we strive to create spaces for embodied dialogue—what we call “tactile communication,” rich in sensory and emotional resonance.

▶︎ Why the Name “Tetsugaku (哲愕) Café by NAoK”?
You may have noticed that our project title intentionally uses the term 哲愕 (tetsugaku) instead of the more common 哲学 (tetsugaku), the Japanese word for “philosophy.”

The character 愕 (gaku)—as found in the word for astonishment (kyōgaku)—implies surprise and discovery. It also shares roots with words related to the jaw or chin (顎), hinting at the origin of speech from the mouth. 《Tetsu-Gaku Café by NAoK》embraces the idea that the act of uttering words in philosophical dialogue is itself an act filled with fresh insights and revelations.

We believe that such utterances have the potential to become kotodama—words imbued with power. This belief gave rise to the founding of Tetsugaku Café by NAoK (New Act of Knowledge).

▶︎ About the Organizer and Facilitator: "naoko fujimoto"
In addition to their work as a contemporary artist and researcher, "naok fujimoto" has contributed to a wide range of science communication and outreach initiatives at institutions such as Tokyo Institute of Technology (now Science Tokyo), Ochanomizu University, Osaka University, and the University of Tokyo. Their work has included industry-academia collaboration projects, research communication, and public engagement programs—aimed at social contribution and human resource development.

Naok's background also includes experience in art education, including teaching visual arts and crafts in schools (including special education settings), as well as serving as a juror for children’s art competitions organized by local governments. Drawing on these experiences, "naok fujimoto" aspires to create meaningful spaces for art appreciation and dialogue through this project.
