A4サイズの白い紙に、見えない声が宿る。

それは「聞かれなかった声」の純粋さ、あるいは消去の痕跡でもある。

本作は、2022年11月から12月にかけて中国で広がった《白紙運動》（英：White Paper Revolution / A4 Revolution）へのオマージュである。この運動では、言論統制下で「語ることすら許されない」人々が、A4の白紙を掲げることで沈黙による抗議を表現した。言葉を封じられた空白そのものが、最大限の意味を宿す行為となったのである。

本作においても、白紙は沈黙の中に存在する声の象徴である。同時にそれは、日本における今日の生きづらさ――他者の目を気にせざるを得ない空気、異なる意見を表すことへのためらい、過剰な同調圧力――と呼応している。

声を上げることがためらわれ、沈黙が「無難」とされる社会の中で、何も書かれていない紙を掲げるという行為は、語らないことによって語る試みでもある。表現とは何か、語るとは何か、身体はいかに社会と関わりうるのか。本作は、そうした問いを抱えながら、抑圧と自由、静けさと希望のあわいを歩み続けるパフォーマンスである。

White A4 Voice

A white sheet of A4 paper that holds invisible voices. The purity—or the erasure—of unheard voices.

This work is an homage to the White Paper Revolution (also known as the A4 Revolution), a protest movement that spread across China from November to December 2022. Amid strict censorship, people held up blank A4 sheets to express resistance through silence—making absence itself a form of presence, and blankness a powerful voice.

In this work as well, the blank page becomes a symbol of voices held in silence. At the same time, it resonates with the atmosphere of quiet pressure in Japan today—where speaking out often feels difficult, where conformity is expected, and where remaining silent is seen as the safer choice.

To raise a blank sheet in such a society is to speak by not speaking. What does it mean to express? To speak? How does the body relate to society? This performance continues to walk the in-between space—between oppression and freedom, silence and hope.
